| Īpašums apraksts | Château Pontet-Canet: The history of the château Pontet-Canet began during the eighteenth century, with the consolidation of several parcels of land located in Pauillac, by Jean-François de Pontet. Thereafter, his descendants decided to enlarge the area, by adding parcels of a place called ‘Pontet’. The château Pontet-Canet was born. In 1855, the château Pontet-Canet was ranked as ‘fifth cru classé’. In 1865, Hermann Cruse bought the field. He contributed enormously to the reputation and to the modernization of the château. It is the family Tesseron, who now, has been at the head of the field, since 1975. They have invested heavily by renovating the field, but also, they have decided, not to lose traditions. The use of a horse, indeed, has been reintroduced and chemical herbicides have been recently banned. In 1982, the castle created a second wine, called "Château Les Hauts de Pontet”, which, then, took the name of "Les Hauts de Pontet-Canet “ in 2001. It is very difficult to make its way among the wines of Pauillac, with famous names, such as Lafite Rothschild, Latour and Mouton Rothschild. However, the château Pontet-Canet manages to stand out, offering fragrant and delicious expressive wines. It goes without saying, that this wine will deserve a better place, if the 1855’s classification was revised… |
