| Īpašums apraksts | Château Pavie-Macquin : this famous wine of Saint-Emilion bore thanks to Albert Macquin. This man, specialist in the American rootstocks, was the pioneer of the reconstruction of the Libournais vineyards during 19th century. Indeed, it was that time the phylloxera, an insect coming from the USA and carrier of a disease, attacked the vines. Albert Macquin specialized himself in the art of grafting and was the model to follow to struggle the plague. Nowadays, his grandchildren are leading the estate. They are continuing, with the help of Nicolas Thienpot, Manager, and Stéphane Derenoncourt, wine consultant, to provide this Saint Emilion Grand Cru all what it needs. The revision of 2006 Saint-Emilion estate ranking saluted the efforts made by raising the Château Pavie-Macquin from Grand Cru Classé to 1er Grand Cru Classé. The ranking has unfortunately been aborted since then but it doesn’t remove the merit and prestige of the wine. The Château Pavie-Macquin also produces a second wine, les Chênes de Macquin, grew from the 15 hectares of the property. The notoriety of Château Pavie-Macquin was established, especially due to its location on the top of Saint-Emilion plateau. This strategic location gives him a dry, sunny and lightly climate. The merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc can express all their potential. |
